D'Avolio's downtown location moving inside Hyatt Regency

Popular healthy restaurant and olive oil shop will move directly across Main Street into hotel's atrium.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A locally-owned healthy restaurant and olive oil store with several locations across Western New York is getting ready for a big expansion in downtown Buffalo. It will soon move across the street into the Hyatt Regency.

D'Avolio Kitchen has been a hit with the lunchtime crowd on Main Street in Buffalo for the last three years. The restaurant, which features a menu of build-your-own pizzas, salads and more, has now outgrown its space, which has seating for about 50 people.

Around the time owner Dan Gagliardo started to look for a larger downtown location, the opportunity with the Hyatt came up.

"We're going to do a joint venture," he said. "We're going to be moving D'Avolio directly across the street, and we're going to be taking over the food operations, except catering, for the hotel. So we're really excited."

The new restaurant will be found in the hotel's atrium, next to Starbucks. Gagliardo is hopeful this may lead to partnerships with other Hyatt locations around the country.

"The idea is that now we'll be able to really see our model, and really take it to the next level, because now we're doing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service, and it will be a very healthy options menu. So it's a dream come true for the family. It really is."

The move is scheduled to take place sometime in the coming months, and Gagliardo says the whole thing will take place over a single weekend, so the restaurant won't ever have to close to the loyal weekday lunch crowd.
