SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A 38-year-old upstate New York woman has admitted killing her infant son before hiding his body behind her residence.
Heaven Puleski pleaded guilty Thursday in Schenectady County Court to first-degree manslaughter with a promised sentence of 15 years in state prison. She was originally charged with second-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years to life in prison.
The decomposed body of 4-month-old Rayen was found behind Puleski’s Schenectady apartment on Aug. 9. A cause of death could not be determined, although the indictment said Puleski had violently shaken and thrown him.
The baby was last seen on July 17. Mother and child were reported missing by family, but Puleski was found soon afterward.
Sentencing is scheduled on June 5.
