WESTFIELD, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible "swatting" incident Saturday in the Town of Westfield.

Police had been called to an address on Pigeon Road for a report of a shooting incident. Upon arrival, New York State Police and Westfield Police say the person in question was not there, but was at another address in town, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office.

Police then visited that address and found the person who was alleged to have armed.

An investigation found that there was no shooting and that the person was unarmed. No one was injured, and no charges have been filed in what county officials say might have been a prank.

An investigation into what they say is a false report is underway.
