ATTICA, N.Y. — New York State Police have arrested a correctional facility teacher after she was accused of smuggling a cellphone in for an inmate to use.
Elaina S. Freeman, 30, of Buffalo, has been charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree and official misconduct.
State police say Freeman was a teacher at the Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica. It was during 2017 that she smuggled the phone into the facility for an inmate to use.
Freeman was arraigned in Wyoming County Court on Thursday and was released. She is set to appear in court again next month.
