U.S. Attorney James Kennedy announced Monday a Niagara Falls man was arrested following a raid conducted by multiple agencies Friday evening.

Jeffrey Richards, 28, was charged with criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin; possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking; maintaining a drug-involved premises; and making and possessing an unlawful destructive device.

On Friday, December 18, law enforcement agencies conducted a search at Richards' house on Packard Court in Niagara Falls where officers recovered amounts of suspected heroin, 10 firearms, various rounds of ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia and an improvised explosive device.

Various items used of the manufacturing of explosive devices were also recovered.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years, maximum of life in prison and a fine up of to $5,000,000.
