AMITY, NY-- An Allegany County man is due in court next week after allegedly shooting a dog over the weekend.
State Police say Marvin Wells, 64, of Amity is charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a felony.
On Saturday, troopers were called out to Stryker Rd. in Amity for a report of a dog possibly shot. Their investigation determined Wells allegedly 'shot a canine for no legitimate purpose', according to a news release about the incident.
The dog is recovering from its injuries.
