Troopers observed Volo speeding on Route 33 in an unmarked vehicle with emergency lights.

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - A man is facing multiple charges after troopers say he was caught speeding using emergency-style lights on his vehicle, and then claimed to be part of the local fire company.

Louis Volo Jr., 57, of Depew, has been charged with second degree criminal impersonation and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

According to State Police, troopers say they saw Volo speeding on Route 33 in Cheektowaga around 6:30 p.m. on August 17. He was in an unmarked car with emergency-style lights flashing on top, and people were moving over for him.The lights were turned off as troopers approached to stop Volo, who then told them he was a member of the volunteer fire company.

The following investigation found there was not an emergency at that time and Volo was not a part of a fire company. Troopers also found a glass pipe with cocaine residue in the vehicle.

Volo has since been arrested, processed, and released. He will return to Cheektowaga Court at a later date.
