Amherst man arrested on drug charges following anonymous tip

BUFFALO, NY - An anonymous tip lead to the arrest of an Amherst man Monday.

Adriane Harris, 37, was arrested by Erie County Sheriff's deputies following an investigation that was prompted by an anonymous tip.

Investigators say they found over eight ounces of cocaine, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, and more than $50,000 in cash when they searched two vehicles on Millersport Highway and Sheridan Drive, and a residence in Amherst.

Deputies arrested Harris after he showed up to the residence while it was being searched. Police also searched his vehicle and found cocaine and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

Harris is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, two different criminal possession of a narcotic charges, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and three counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

He had a prior conviction on federal drug charges from 2006. Police say he's also served time for gun possession charges.

Harris is currently being held Erie County Holding Center without bail.
