With an online auction set for next month, the operators of the Buffalo Niagara Marriott have permanently laid off 87 employees.

Rhode Island-based hotel owner TPG Hotels & Resorts — an affiliate of The Procaccianti Cos. — filed a state-mandated WARN notice indicating those full- and part-time workers who have been furloughed or laid off since March 21 were shifted to permanent laid-off status as of Aug. 29.

The 356-room hotel at 1340 Millersport Highway is the largest hotel in Amherst and is just south of the University at Buffalo's Amherst campus. It remains open.
