TM Montante wants tax breaks for project

The developer was at the Erie County Industrial Development Agency Tuesday asking for almost $400,000 in tax breaks for the project.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Developer TM Montante wants tax breaks to make a development project work near Gates Circle.

That is the project to renovate the Delaware Avenue Medical Center, just south of the circle, and turn it into apartments and commercial space.

The developer was at the Erie County Industrial Development Agency Tuesday asking for almost $400,000 in tax breaks for the project.  TM Montante says without the tax breaks, the project won't get done.

"Incentive programs like these are a creative way to make sure projects like this move forward, thus eventually coming back onto the tax rolls, creating more revenue for, not only Erie County, but also the city of Buffalo, public schools and all those in the neighborhood," said Byron Deluke, TM Montante Director of Development.

The IDA did not vote on the tax breaks Tuesday.  The full board will vote on it in the near future.
