NYS lawmakers want Bon-Ton to continue to accept gift cards

Two local assemblymembers want the Bon-Ton to keep accepting gift cards during the liquidation sale.

BUFFALO, NY-- The Bon-Ton stores in Western New York are on their way to closing.

And if you still have any gift cards, you're pretty much out of luck. Gift cards are no longer being accepted at Bon-Ton. The liquidator that bought the stores, only accepted them for the first ten days of sales last month.

Now two local assemblymembers want the chain to keep accepting them. Ray Walter and Robin Schimminger are demanded that it give people more time to use the cards.

"The decision by the fat cat executives to only ask the bankruptcy court for ten days to honor gift cards was a slap in the face to Western New Yorkers who feel like they've had their hard-earned money stolen," says New York State Assemblymember Ray Walter (R-146th District).

Walter and Schimminger say they'll also help people with unused gift cards file claims with the bankruptcy court to get at least some of their money back. You can contact their offices at:
