'Cool roof' app built for Buffalo

The Buffalo Cool Roof Project, an app that identifies dark roofs that could be painted white, decreasing the energy use of the structure.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo re-pats came up with a pretty cool idea.

Agnes Wilewicz and Jesse Farinacci are the co-developers of The Buffalo Cool Roof Project, an app that identifies dark roofs that could be painted white, decreasing the energy use of the structure.

The project was the first place winner in the recent Civic Innovation Eco Challenge – Powered by AT&T, pulling in a $7,000 cash reward. Wilewicz is parter at Hurwitz & Fine PC law firm while Marinacci works at the IBM Buffalo Innovation Center. The women both graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2003. They both left the region after college but returned about five years ago.  You can read more on Buffalo Business First's website.
