Charter/Spectrum gets another extension from NYS

Charter/Spectrum is getting yet another reprieve from state officials who want them out of New York.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Charter/Spectrum is getting yet another reprieve from state officials who want them out of New York.

The New York State Public Service Commission announced another extension this week for Charter/Spectrum to come up with a plan to leave the state.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Three months after the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC), in an unusual move, voted to revoke its approval for Charter's merger with Time Warner Cable, the two sides are still hashing out how Charter (operating as Charter-Spectrum in New York) will exit the state as also ordered by the PSC.

It's the fifth time the company's received an extension since the PSC ordered them to prepare an exit plan last July, saying they'd failed to meet the agreement to provide broadband service to underserved areas of New York.

That deal let Charter and Time Warner merge to form Spectrum in 2016.
