CLARENCE, N.Y. — A gown owned by Aretha Franklin went up for auction Saturday in Western New York, and it sold for $1,650, according to Schultz Auctioneers.

Schultz Auctioneers was selling a crystal evening gown Franklin took with her to a VH1 tribute concert in April 2001.

The gown is one of several that she had that night, but it is believed that she did not wear it.

The dress was part of an antique estate auction, which began at 10 a.m. Saturday Schultz's on Main Street in Clarence.
