BUFFALO, N.Y. — People in need of a job, or looking for a new opportunity, attended 43North's second annual Jobcade on Wednesday.
Fifty Buffalo-based companies presented more than 400 job opportunities in sales, operations, marketing, engineering and manufacturing.
If you needed to add a professional picture to your LinkedIn account, a photographer was on hand to take headshots.
Experts were also be available to help you with your resume, and you could network with other job seekers and businesses.
The second annual Jobcade was held from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at RiverWorks.
A big focus for Jobcade was to recruit people into technology fields like engineering and information technology. A representative with 43North explained that a large number of increasing jobs in the market are in the technology sector.
Jennifer Reed, the director of talent strategy for 43 North, said the challenge in filling the jobs is making sure people in western New York are aware that job opportunities are available.
"We have a lot of talent here that’s working remotely for companies in other cities," Reed said. "So as Buffalo really grows and we’re experiencing this resurgence, we wanna educate the community that we really have these great jobs here for people to really take advantage of and apply."
To help potential employers better connect with people, 43 North launched a new online platform called Forge Buffalo. The newly launched platform will allow job-seekers to upload resumes and engage with content to help them in their job search.
