Homeless Alliance of WNY sees reduction in homeless Vets

Just days after Veterans Day, Western New York got an update on the number of homeless veterans in in the area.

BUFFALO, NY - Just days after Veterans Day, Western New York got an update on the number of homeless veterans in in the area.

According to the Homeless Alliance of WNY, they've reduced the number of veterans in shelters and transitional homes from 88 to 50 since January.

The agency also says there are no long term veterans in the area.

The Homeless Alliance refers to this achievement as functional zero - which means they're finding success in getting homeless veterans housing within 30 days.

"I just want to thank the organizations. They've helped me with food, housing, and my heart goes out for them," said Navy veteran Robert Labrasseur.

The Alliance works with the V.A. Healthcare System and the Veterans One-Stop Center to help veterans find housing.
