BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has announced its Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for 2020 and WGRZ has been honored with four Murrow Awards, the most of any station in the region.

WGRZ was named overall winner in the following four categories:

  • Overall Excellence: WGRZ Staff
  • Multi-Media: WGRZ Staff
  • Hard News: Steve Brown and Andy Desantis for ‘Worked to Death’
  • Excellence in Writing: Kate Welshofer

“Although awards are not our primacy, it is an honor and tribute to our dedicated and talented team to have won the award for Overall Excellence four years consecutively and Multi-Media (formerly Website) for 5 years in this highly competitive multi-state region,” said WGRZ President & General Manager Jim Toellner. “Then, having three of our most skilled journalists also win individual awards makes it very special.”

WGRZ competed against television stations from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The regional winners now advance to the National Murrow Award competition.
