The amazing reason Today Show's Al Roker was in Buffalo

You can bet the Ladies of Charity in Buffalo never expected to see a certain celebrity in their neck of the woods Thursday morning.

Al Roker surprised everyone with a special ,early morning appearance Thursday during the TODAY Show.

They chose the City of Good Neighbors to be part of their Neighbors Helping Neighbors series. It celebrates people, like 96-year-old Daisy Estelle Anderson, who have spent countless hours giving back.

Ladies of Charity has been serving Buffalo since 1941. They help out moms and babies in need. Anderson has been part of the group for 30 of those years; ever since she retired from teaching.

On Thursday, Roker visited Buffalo to deliver a massive donation from the TODAY Show and State Farm.

"We need all of these things that came in today and I can see I'll be busy sewing, sewing much more than I have been," Anderson said.

And this donation is only the half of it.

"They're going to double this," Roker explained. "So, when this runs out...boom! They're going to come with another van and bring more stuff and that allows that ripple effect. It goes out and affects other people. It will be really special."

Ladies of Charity's mission will continue as it has for decades and Estelle plans to be right there with them. You may wonder where she continues to get such vibrancy and energy.

"I don't know," she laughs, "I don't think about age. Maybe that's it. I just keep going. I keep the blood going through my veins."
