BUFFALO, N.Y. — It's Girl Scout cookie season, but it's also registration season for the Girl Scouts of Western New York.

The organization held a 12-hour "join-a-thon" on Wednesday. New participants can sign up over the phone or in person at one of the scout's local service centers.

Those who join for the Girl Scouts during the 12-hour time period Wednesday will have a chance to win Amazon gift cards and a year's supply of Girl Scout cookies.

As part of the registration event, the Girl Scouts of Western New York will also host "Slime, Cocoa and Cookies" between 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday  at their service centers in Depew, Jamestown, Batavia, Lockport and Rochester. This event will feature additional prize opportunities and a chance for the girls to learn about the scout experience.
