Daybreak Brings Patrick Hammer to Tears

The Daybreak team never really knows what's going to happen when they start talking about What's Trending. The last thing anyone expected was that it would ultimately bring Patrick Hammer to tears.

Let's face it. What Mother Nature has been trying to peddle as Spring this year just isn't cutting it but this may be the last straw but first--it's National Pet Day!

If you are like me, then you thought National Pet Day happened already. It sort of did. February 20th was National Love Your Pet Day.

April 11th is National Pet Day.

I know. We have lots of feelings about these made-up holidays. See you in the comment section.

Either way, days like these typically end with my social media feed being filled with animals, which is the total best.

By the way, if you tweet your pet pics to @KateWelshofer. I. Will. Retweet. Them! (And I don't want to push my luck here, but if you could also follow me while you're there, that would be super.)

My cat, Anchorcat Brian Williams would tell you that Cats rule and dogs drool but according to the numbers dogs are big favorites. Dogs are ranked as the most popular pet for Americans. 45-percent of pet owners are dog owners.Cats are not too far behind with 30-percent. That's followed by Fish, Birds and Hamsters rounding out the top five with a respectable 2-percent of people being hamster owners.

While we are talking about this. This is a great time to encourage people to adopt don't shop.

Support our local animal shelters and the Erie County SPCA

Brian is a rescue.

Give those guys nice happy homes.

By the way, 10-percent of people say their pet is their best friend

and 20-percent of us talk to our pets in a special voice...guilty.

Also trending was a video I couldn't even set up except to say we could all completely relate.

You just have to see it and Patrick's reaction! Watch the video above.
