BUFFALO, N.Y. — Remember the days of paying $1.29 for every song you wanted on your iPod? The days before streaming services and apps made music more accessible.
Now, music can be free (with a library card).
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is now offering members a free subscription to an app called Freegal. Freegal users can download and stream songs or music videos from their catalog of 15 million songs and 40,000 music videos.
While it may take a while to build a complete library with five downloads a week, after a few months you can have a full playlist. The music stays forever within the app and doesn't charge any monthly subscription charges. Listeners create playlists within the app to organize the music.
Don't have a library card? Apply for one in person at the library or online here: https://www.buffalolib.org/content/borrower-information#card
