BUFFALO, N.Y. — This year marked the 44th consecutive Juneteenth celebration in Buffalo. Juneteenth celebrations have taken place across the country dating back to 1865 as the observance of the ending of slavery in the United States. The Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo, is an important component of summertime events in the Buffalo-Niagara region and one of the largest Juneteenth celebration in world.
Festivities included entertainment stage, arts and culture stage, vendor's market, historical exhibits, Underground Railroad tours, science fair, children's activities and more.
The Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo mission is to actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that benefit the community as a whole.
