Summer is not over, how dare you?

Festival Fest explores events for the weekend of August 24 and 25 and wonders where the guy who wore flip flops in April is.

I have a confession: if I have to hear another person say that summer is over I'm going to flip out. Times like these we need the optimism of the kind of person who wears flip flops and shorts on the first nice day in April.

Anyhoo, this is Festival Fest!

Festival Fest is the thing I do where I talk about things to do in Western New York and we do this on Monday to make Monday more fun and guess what? There are still a lot of great ways to enjoy the summer days we still have left.

This episode features events happening on and around the weekend of August 24th and 25th.

We’re starting with one of the iconic big summer festivals in Buffalo.

The 38th Annual Buffalo Irish Festival stuffs more Irish pride into the Buffalo Waterfront than you can shake a shillelagh at.

In Lewiston, the Northwest Jazz Festival returns for its 18th year. It is, by the way, WNY’s largest outdoor Jazz Festival.

The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts brings together artists, musicians, singers, dancers and, if you’re not busy, you! It’s going on Saturday and Sunday.

Tonawanda Porchfest is Aug. 25th… This is a a relatively new festival. It was started in 2017. The family friendly grassroots community event getting is all about getting people together and supporting local artists and musicians.

The Queen City Pitties rescue group hosts a Beer Blast at the Cove in Depew Aug 24th.

Fundraisers, arts and crafts and even… psychics!

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo Summer Arts and Crafts Show runs Saturday and Sunday at 695 Elmwood Avenue.

The Scranton Volunteer Fire Company invites you to its Community Days.

The SSG William R. "Billy" Wilson III Memorial Ride and Raffle is Sunday, August, 25.

There's an Experience Psychic Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn-Buffalo Airport in Cheektowaga Saturday and Sunday.

Join the Gowanda Boosters Club for the Panther Pancake Breakfast from 8 - 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Gowanda Moose Club.

And a Craft and Vendor Show benefits the East Eden Fire Department on August 25th.

And that’s Festival Fest: the greatest thing to happen to Monday since the 3-day weekend.

Have a great day and a great week and remember: summer's not over! Not yet!
