Festival Fest: The first weekend of October

Kate Welshofer has lots of weekend fun in store to compliment the beginning fall foliage

BUFFALO, N.Y. — This is Festival Fest, the thing I do where I talk about things to do in WNY. We do it on Monday to make Monday more fun and today I am talking about what is happening on and around the weekend of Oct 5 & 6.

And I'm going to start with the events I got from you that came to our email festivalfest@wgrz.com.

Spruce Meadow Farm has its Autumn Fest at the Farm coming up. You can do a little shopping, spend a little quality time with some rescue horses and help them out at the same time. This is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year and it helps them feed and care for the horses throughout the winter.

Clear the bats out of the Bell Tower because the Chautauqua Institution's holding its Oktoberfest.

There's also a fundraiser for Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue.

Save the Quilts! Or at least admire them at the Quilt Expo happening in Springville.

Corpus Christi Church let me know they are having a Polish Happy Hour. Cheers to that!

Buffalo Harbor Museum has its Annual Dinner coming up this week on October 2nd.

Plus we are way into Fall Festival and Oktoberfest season. Oh my gourd.

Salamanca has its Falling Leaves Festival. The Genesee Country Village and Museum presents its Fall Festival and Agricultural Fair. There's a Fall Fest at Graycliff. And Akron Newstead is hosting one as well.

In the Oktoberfest department: Roycroft Inn is hosting one in The Print Shop. Open Arms rescue is also having a special event for furry friends. And Shelton Brothers Beer Festival is happening at Central Terminal.

There is also a Fall Porchfest at The Place in Buffalo.

And that's Festival Fest the greatest thing to happen to Monday since the three-day weekend. Have a great day and a great week and we'll see you next time!
