Unique Eats: Mumbles Chicken and Waffles

A new eatery in the Walden Gallery is solely (and soul-y) dishing up chicken and waffles!

Cheektowaga, N.Y. — As you enter the food court of the Walden Galleria, you generally know what you're going to get.

"You usually see like Chinese food, Subway, stuff like that, tacos," said Jakyra Allen, a cook. "Who would think of chicken and waffles?"

Well, you are going to think of chicken and waffles now. The newest eatery in the Walden Galleria is specializing in the dish. It's called Mumbles Chicken and Waffles.

"Everything's made to order," Allen said. "We sell boneless chicken, waffles, different kinds of waffles, red velvet."

You can get just waffles -- original, chocolate and red velvet," Allen explained. "You could get just chicken -- light or dark meat, tenders or wings. But it is a chicken and waffles joint, so you have to at least see the two together.

Allen highly recommends the t-bird sandwich.

"A t-bird is a boneless thigh on a waffle made into a sandwich. It comes with dark meat...a dark meat thigh, it comes with lettuce, tomatoes, cole slaw, Swiss cheese."

Mumbles patrons are all over social media with praise. Ally on Facebook says it is "literally" all she can think about. Gina exclaimed "delicious" and Chad thanked the restaurant for the "many blessings."

"Buffalo's not really used to chicken and waffles," Allen observed. "When we see something great, they're gonna say something great."

And though a chicken and waffles menu may be a bit foreign to Western New York, Mumbles has brought Western New York to their menu. There is breakfast poutine and loganberry to wash it all down.

Mumbles is located in the Walden Galleria food court. They are open everyday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
