'A Quiet Place 2' to be filmed in Western New York

The movie shoot will start in early July and is expected to last most of the summer.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The sequel to the 2018 film "A Quiet Place" will be filmed in Western New York.

Tim Clark with the Buffalo Niagara Commission confirmed the news to 2 On Your Side on Tuesday morning.

The movie shoot will start in early July and is expected to last most of the summer.

It is expected the shoot will primarily take place in Akron. This news comes after actor/director John Krasinski was recently seen in Akron, scouting the location.

The original sci-fi horror movie focused on family trying to survive in a post apocalyptic America.

“It’s very exciting for our community,” said Akron Mayor Carl Patterson, who says village board members as well as local residents and merchants met with officials from Paramount Pictures on Monday evening.

"I can tell you one of the things myself and the board was concerned about when we were approached by them was the impact on our community because the shoot will right on our Main Street, " Patterson said.

Jackie Jaworowicz, who runs Seconds Best Consignment Shop is among those who will be affected.

She was told her shop would have to close for a week in order to allow for the filming.

However, she also says that Paramount has agreed to compensate her for any lost sales.

Jaworowicz told 2 On Your Side that she will probably take a vacation that week.

“When the producers came to Akron they knew almost instantly this was the place they wanted to film,” Tim Clark of the Buffalo Niagara Film Commission said.

“It’s really a quintessential American town that has that sort of 'Mayberry' small-town feel, which I think was idyllic for their needs,” Clark added.
