ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY-- After remaining closed for several hours due to flooding, Route 446 in Cuba has reopened as of about 7:30 p.m. Friday.
State Department of Transportation crews had blocked the road for a stretch of about a mile because of high waters.
Heavy rain over the past two days caused widespread flooding in Allegany County in not only Cuba, but also the following communities: Friendship, Wellsville, Alfred, Belmont and Clarksville. According to the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Cuba and Friendship experienced the worst problems throughout the day on Friday.
The flooding caused some roads to be closed -- including Route 446 -- and pushed water into residents' basements, including reports of one to two feet of standing water.
A Code Red was issued, allowing officials to notify residents and businesses about the emergency situation.
