Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Maya Moore scored 27 points and Seimone Augustus added 22, and the Minnesota Lynx earned a third straight trip to the NBA Finals with a 72-65 victory over the Phoenix Mercury Sunday afternoon.
Rebekkah Brunson pulled down 14 rebounds and Lindsay Whalen dished out seven assists for the Lynx, who swept the best-of-three Western Conference finals.
Monica Wright scored eight points for Minnesota, which lost to Indiana in last year's title series. The Lynx will face the same team they swept in the 2011 WNBA Finals, the Atlanta Dream, starting next Sunday night in Minneapolis. Atlanta finished off a sweep of Indiana in the Eastern Conference finals Sunday.
The Lynx, who were regular season Western Conference champions, held the Mercury to 2-of-21 shooting from 3-point range.
Diana Taurasi had 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Mercury, who also received 17 points from Candice Dupree and 12 from DeWanna Bonner. Brittney Griner had 10 rebounds.
Phoenix led by as many as six points in the first quarter, but were up only 21-19 after 10 minutes.
The Lynx scored the opening nine points of the second quarter and didn't trail the rest of the game, although the Mercury had it tied a couple of times. Minnesota was in front, 38-35, at the half before Bonner's two free throws evened the contest at 41.
Moore's jumper capped an ensuing 7-0 run and Minnesota took a 53-45 lead into the fourth quarter. The Mercury got within 69-65 in the final minute, but the Lynx made enough free throws down the stretch.
