BUFFALO, NY - One night before Dominik Hasek is inducted into the Buffalo Sabres hall of fame, the team announced they will retire his number 39 jersey at some point next season.
The announcement was made shortly before Hasek addressed the media on Friday.
Hasek played with the Sabres from 1992 until 2001. During his time in Buffalo, Hasek won the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender on six occasions and the Hart trophy for league MVP on two occasions.
Saturday night, the Sabres will induct the goaltender into the team hall of fame in a ceremony that will take place before the faceoff against Tampa Bay. The team is asking ticket holder to be in their seats by 6:50 p.m. in order to see the ceremony.
