BUFFALO, N.Y.- South Buffalo native Patrick Kane will be heading to Sochi to play for Team USA with a heavy heart after the passing of his grandfather.
Kane found out just before Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings. He had two goals and an assist in that game.
"It's just a tough day overall. It's one of my great friends growing up and it's just a really sad day so it was important to get the win but any time you get someone taken away from you so close to you that means so much. Tough to hear that right before the game for sure," said Kane after the game.
Calling hours for Kane's grandfather are 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Reddington Funeral Home on Abbott Road in South Buffalo.
