ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.- It's May and Buffalo Bills receiver Mike Williams has a beard that would imply it's November 30. (That's a No-Shave November reference for all you razor wavers.)
But, not just any beard... a playoff beard.... in May.
"As long as I got this beard, the Bills gonna be in the playoffs," Williams affirmed. "I'm not gonna cut it."
Williams' Kimbo Slice-looking beard is already two months old. But, he's trying to "get it real, real long, which means we'll be deep in the playoffs."
The Bills have not made the playoffs since 1999, the longest active drought in the NFL.
The Bills acquired the Buffalo native in a trade with Tampa Bay this offseason. Williams has a history of off-the-field problems, but his on-field skill is noticeable.
Williams said "it felt good being back out there running full speed."
The former Riverside High School star provides an added dimension to the receiving corps. With rookie Sammy Watkins' versatility at the X, Y and Z receiver positions, Williams can be the constant, veteran threat on the outside.
The ex-Buccaneer caught 11 touchdowns as a rookie in 2010. Along with the young, talented group of receivers, quarterback EJ Manuel has a plethora of weapons on offense.
