BUFFALO, N.Y.- Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says the new Bills Stadium Commission is a good step towards keeping the team in Buffalo.

"It's pretty certain that the Bills are going to have to stay here for the seven years of the lease because the penalties are huge," said Schumer. "But when a new owner looks at the Bills they're going to say, well are there long term plans for a new stadium. The fact that we'll have a commission going and studying it will help keep the Bills in Buffalo, so I think having this commission is a very good idea."

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the first members of the new commission earlier this month.

Cuomo, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and Bills CEO Russ Brandon will each select a total of seven people to serve on the commission.
