BUFFALO BILLS at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Thad Lewis is starting at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills with EJ Manuel inactive against the New England Patriots with a small tear in a left knee ligament.

Manuel and Bills leading receiver Stevie Johnson are out for the second consecutive game. Johnson has been excused after the death of his mother.

The Bills' inactive players also include wide receiver Cordell Roberson. He was added from the practice squad last week.

The Patriots are without two starting defensive backs. Safety Devin McCourty has a concussion and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has knee and shoulder problems.

Also inactive for the Patriots are wide receiver Josh Boyce, linebacker Steve Beauharnais, defensive linemen Isaac Sopoaga and Jake Bequette and offensive lineman Chris Barker.

FIRST QUARTER

9:46 - Stephen Gostkowski 43-yard field goal on the Patriots opening drive to take a 3-0 lead.

6:19 - Dan Carpenter with a 51-yard field goal to tie the game 3-3.

2:45 - Patriots re-take lead on a 35-yard field goal by Gostkowski 6-3.

SECOND QUARTER

12:22 - The Patriots exploit the Bills run defense by driving 94-yards capped by Legarrette Blount's 36-yard TD run that gave them a 13-3 lead.

0:04 The Patriots extend the lead with Stephen Gostkowski's 29 yard field goal. 16-3

THIRD QUARTER

1:35 - Bills cap a 7-play 80-yard drive with Thad Lewis connecting with TJ Graham for a 12-yard touchdown. Bills trail 16-10.

FOURTH QUARTER

15:00 - Tom Brady connects with Shane Vereen on a 5-yard touchdown pass. The Patriots convert the two to take a 24-10 lead.

10:24 - Fred Jackson scores on a 5-yard touchdown run to cap an 80-yard drive and cut the Pats lead to 24-17.

8:02 - Stephen Gostkowski kicks a 35-yard field goal to extend New England's lead back to 27-17.

3:30 - Dan Carpenter kicks a 37-yard field goal to cut the Patriots lead to 27-20.

2:40 - Legarrette Blount seals the game with a 35 yard TD run to make it 34-20.
