TALLADEGA, Ala. — It's NASCAR race day at Talladega Superspeedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for today's Aaron's 499.

START TIME: Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will instruct drivers to start their engines at 1:07 p.m. Eastern time today (12:07 local), followed by the green flag at 1:19 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 1:19 p.m.

RACE DISTANCE: The Aaron's 499 is 188 laps around the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway for a total of 500.08 miles (the "499" is for marketing purposes).

COLUMN: Talladega could even championship playing field

NATIONAL ANTHEM: The Arsenal Brass Quintet from the Army Materiel Command will perform the national anthem prior to today's race.

TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: FOX will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 1 p.m. ET. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will call the race on the radio.

WEATHER: The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies with a high near 86 degrees. There will be a slight breeze but no chance of rain.

LAST TIME: David Ragan got the upset win one year ago as he and Front Row Motorsports teammate David Gilliland scored a 1-2 finish. In October, Jamie McMurray won his only race of the season in a green-white-checkered finish that ended under caution.

STARTING LINEUP: A wild knockout qualifying session Saturday resulted in Brian Scott winning a pole for Circle Sport Racing, part of a six-car contingent of Earnhardt Childress Racing-powered cars up front.
