AMHERST, N.Y.-Saturday afternoon at the Northtown Center in Amherst Williamsville East blanked North Tonawanda 2-0 in WNY Varsity Federation Hockey action.

Williamsville East Blanks North Tonawanda 2-0

The Flames opened the scoring on the power play in the second period. Sophomore Alex Finley beat Lumberjacks goaltender Kyle Painter with help from Matt Aichinger and Mike Mostowy.

In the third period senior defenseman Ethan Sokoowski scored on a wrist shot from just inside the blue line.

Painter was tremendous in goal for North Tonawanda. He finished with 35 saves. For the Flames Max Battistoni had 17 saves. With the win East improves to 5-1-1 on the season.

In another Federation game West Seneca East remained unbeaten with a 6-1 win over Sweet Home. David Brunka had two goals for the Trojans. West Seneca East improves to 5-0-2 on the season.

There are three WNY Varsity Federation games at Buffalo State College Sunday afternoon.
