BUFFALO, N.Y.- After one year in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, manager Gary Allenson was called up to Triple A.

Allenson was officially introduced as the new skip for the Buffalo Bisons at the Adam's Mark Hotel Thursday morning.

The former Boston Red Sox catcher (1979-1984) spent his first season with the Blue Jays organization as manager of the Double A affiliate New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Allenson becomes the 19th Bisons manager in the team's modern era. His Triple A managerial experience includes stints with the Louisville Redbirds (1998), the Ottawa Lynx (2003) and the Norfolk Tides (2007-2011).

Allenson's playing days included five years with the Red Sox, before ending his career with 14 games as a member of the Blue Jays. Allenson hit .221 with 19 home runs and 131 RBI in 416 MLB games.
