BUFFALO, N.Y.- New York State Senator Tim Kennedy faced off against his Democratic challenger Betty Jean Grant in a debate Monday night.

The two discussed several issues affecting Western New York, and also talked about the impact of the Billion 2 Buffalo program,

"Buffalo, New York because of this billion dollar commitment is on the front lines of the green technology manufacturing industry. We're on the front lines of the medical industry because of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus redevelopment," Senator Kennedy said.

"We are bringing these high technical jobs in. Many of our youth who are on the street, dealing drugs, they don't qualify. They have to go back to school and be retrained. So before the money came, training programs should have been in place," Grant said.

Primary day is Tuesday September 9.
