WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Incumbent Congressmember Brian Higgins (D) will face a challenge from political newcomer Kathy Weppner for his 26th Congressional District seat this November.
Weppner, formerly a WBEN radio talk show host, announced her candidacy at a press conference held in front of Town Hall in Williamsville on Friday.
"For too long we have sent our representatives off to Washington only to have them turn into professional politicians that fail to listen to the average citizen," Weppner said in a prepared statement. "I've spent years on the radio listening to and talking with the residents of this district. I have a deep understanding of the changes they would like to see."
Following Friday's announcement, 2 On Your Side caught up with Weppner to ask her about her qualifications to be a member of Congress.
