WEST SENECA, NY - A man with a knife was taken into custody by West Seneca Police on Thursday night inside a crowded Planet Fitness.
The man has been identified as 24-year-old Louis F. Doll of Seneca Street.
The incident began around 9:12 p.m. with a call to police reporting a man with a knife on the front lawn outside a home on Seneca St. Police were told the man was waving a knife and possibly threatening to harm himself or others.
Police say Doll had left the scene before they arrived, but they were told he was at the Seneca-Ridge Plaza.
Police followed him to the Planet Fitness, where they found him in the back of the gym.
According to police, Doll squared off in a fighting stance with the knife in his hand when he was confronted.
West Seneca Police Officer Jesse Reed ordered Doll to drop the knife. When he did not drop the knife, Officer Reed used his Taser to subdue Doll and take him into custody.
Doll is charged with Menacing of a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
He was arraigned by Judge Harrington in West Seneca Town Court and sent to Erie County Holding Center on $20,000 bail and a forensic evaluation.
