TOWN OF TONAWANDA, NY-- Three Town of Tonawanda Police officers are credited with saving the life of a fellow officer.

Officials say Officer Kevin Zuchlewski, 44, suffered a 'sudden cardiac arrest' in the police station locker room after working out.

Another officer, Ryan Taber, heard what he thought was labored breathing, and discovered Zuchlewski.

Taber, realizing Zuchlewski was in distress, called for help.

Captain Frank McNamara and Taber started chest compressions, while Detective Thomas Oswald went to get an AED. The officers were able to shock Zuchlewski and administer oxygen before paramedics arrived. Zuchlewski, a father of two, was taken to the hospital where he underwent a quintuple bypass surgery. He is recovering.

The three officers will be honored for their efforts in a ceremony on Thursday.
