BUFFALO, NY - Luna and her fellow polar bear Kali are fan favorites at the Buffalo Zoo. So a lot of people were concerned when they heard Luna took a 14-foot fall into her moat Saturday afternoon.

We're told she's "doing OK," but the zoo doesn't have the results of x-rays that were taken on Saturday yet. Rachel Gottlieb, a zoo spokesperson, told us, "She was alert after her fall, so we're pretty sure she's fine."

The zoo calls this an unfortunate accident.

Luna was walking along the same edge of the moat that she always does when she slipped and fell into the moat. Keepers were unable to coax her out the moat so they gave her a tranquilizer shot and carried her to the holding center at the zoo's veterinary facility.

The zoo is still waiting on the x-rays. Gottlieb says the zoo should have an update for us after Labor Day, likely on Tuesday.
