NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.- A marine with ties to Western New York was laid to rest in Niagara Falls Tuesday.
Friends, family and local fire and police officials said a final farewell to Ricky Jones. He was remembered during a service at the Riverside Presbyterian Church.
Jones was killed in San Diego last month while trying to help people after a car accident.
Before moving to California Jones was a volunteer at the Frontier Fire Department.
"[Jones] set the bar pretty high, his father was a police officer, his goal was to go on and become a state trooper. He wanted to stay in the fire department like his father did. His dad was in the Air Force but he said no I'd like to take it a step further and be a Marine," said Frontier Fire Department Chief Bruce Meck.
Jones was buried with full military honors.
