LEWISTON, NY- Lewiston Police say speed was likely a factor in an early morning crash in which two people were killed. The crash happened on Walmore Road just after 2 a.m. Monday morning. Police say 32-year-old Brandon Rickard and 29-year-old Danyle White, both residents of the Tuscarora Indian Reservation, were killed.

Police say they arrived on scene to find one part of the car wrapped around a tree and on fire and the other part containing the victims about 30 feet away. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman identifying herself as White's cousin tells 2 On Your Side White was a mother of four young children and Rickard was the father of the three youngest. She said the two were on their way home from Rickard's pool league playoffs early Monday morning and he had just won first place. She said of White that "she was so proud of her family and was such a wonderful mom."

The accident is still under investigation, but police say speed is likely to blame for the car crossing the center line and striking a tree.
