BUFFALO, N.Y.- Residents of the Stuyvesant Apartment are petitioning the housing authority for more safety features after a murder took place inside the buildingin addition to other security problems.

One of their main concerns is the fact that the building has no security measures other than cameras that capture a crime when it happens.

Residents are also concerned with crime prevention.

Not having a guard signing people in and out of the building is a huge problem.

"It's relatively safe here, but it could be a lot better. Seniors, elderly, and disabled people should not be in fear of being robbed inside their apartment because no one is monitoring what goes on," said Tenant Council President Sam Smith.

Smith said the housing authority has responsibility under its charter to have a safe, clean and affordable housing development for people.
