BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo Police accident investigators are looking for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run accident Sunday at about 12:30 a.m.
A 40-year-old Niagara Falls man was hit by the car as he crossed Bailey Avenue near Roosevelt Avenue. Police think the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the pedestrian.
According to Lt. Thomas J. Leatherbarrow, commander of the Accident Investigation Unit, the vehicle is described as maroon in color with yellow New York State license plates.
A City of Buffalo surveillance camera shows the vehicle just before the accident. Lt. Leatherbarrow said the car should have front-end damage on the driver's side.
The victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center with multiple injuries and is listed in critical condition.
