BUFFALO, NY- Construction crews are hard at work, as the Riverworks Project near the old grain silos continues to take shape.

Crews were putting up steel bars Thursday that will eventually become the roof that will cover two open air hockey rinks. Next to the rinks are two freight train warehouses that are being re-purposed to become a 60,000 square foot indoor complex with four bars, sit down restaurants, banquet space and even an indoor brewery.

The property is also home to 700 feet of dockage for recreational boats.

Organizers plan to market the project to attract concerts, trade shows and weddings.

"[An] outdoor experience with a year round feel, the weather winter, ice and hockey, and curling and tourneys. And in [the] summer, amateur sports played on these surfaces, plus a concert venue for 5,000 people right here, right on the edge of the waterfront," Doug Swift, Riverworks co-owner said.

Developers hope to take advantage of the site's proximity to Canalside by creating a riverwalk where people can walk between sites via bridges along Michigan Street and Ohio Street.
