BUFFALO, NY- Buffalo business leaders announced Friday morning the formation of a new group dedicated to the advancement of the Chippewa District.

The group, known as the Chippewa Alliance, is made up of representatives from key businesses and stakeholders in the community.

Leaders say one of their main goals is to create a sense of community along Chippewa, similar to what's been accomplished in Larkinville.

"We are looking at making it a more attractive, safe environment. So we are spending time over the last year looking at everything from lighting, we're looking at the sidewalks, we're looking at beautification efforts, plants, anything we can do to improve the environment and infrastructure of the neighborhood," Elizabeth Vealey, Chippewa Alliance President said.

The alliance also hopes to build upon Chippewa's history as an entertainment district in order to attract new economic development, and increased investment in the area.
