BUFFALO, NY - As temps rise and summer draws closer, the signs of activity at Buffalo's waterfront development known as Canalside become more apparent. On Sunday, the official kick-off to Armed Forces Week began with a ceremonial salute to active duty and retired servicemen and women. There will be various activities throughout the week such as luncheons and a ball next Saturday.
And just as this ceremony was an opening event of sorts the state-operated Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation which now runs Canalside was talking up various events for the upcoming summer including the new concert series.
"People are going to see it," said Chris Catanzaro of the ECHDC, "they're going to come down for the concerts and there's going to be some local flavors for food and beverage and acts, and we're going to actually expand that experience as well beyond Thursdays at Canalside."
The Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum firm will run the concerts this season instead of Buffalo Place. Catanzaro said the concert schedule will be announced in two weeks or so.
