BUFFALO, NY-- People hungry for news about where WNY's first Whole Foods Market will be located got some answers Wednesday.

Amherst Supervisor Dr. Barry Weinstein confirms to 2 On Your Side that the much-anticipated store will anchor a multi-million dollar development of the Northtown Plaza along Sheridan Drive in the town.

WS Developers, one of New England's largest retail developers, plans to close on the sale of the property by the end of the year.

Dr. Weinstein says the first phase of the project calls for demolition of the long-vacant Bon-Ton store to make room for Whole Foods, with phase 2 to include development of the rest of the plaza. Town planners must first approve the developer's site plans, which are expected to be filed sometime over the summer. No word yet on what's in the works for the rest of the plaza.

Whole Foods is set to open their 15th store in the state in Albany later this month.
