NIAGARA WHEATFIELD, NY - 17 year old Nathan Brundage is in for the fight of his life and he is doing it with grace, determination and support from his family and friends. Nate was diagnosed in December. He was playing dodge ball when he got hit in the head with the ball. He thought he might have a concussion, but scans that day found something far worse. Nate had a tumor in the middle of his brain. Doctors worked immediately to set up a plan for treatment. A scheduled brain surgery was moved up when Nate started showing symptoms.

An eight hour surgery was - by all means - a success. Nate spent days recovering at Women and Children's Hospital. Doctors were impressed by his attitude and his recovery. Once Nate was home and feeling better, he began his treatment at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Treatment that includes chemotherapy and radiation.

Doctors are using targeted technology to work at eliminating the rest of the tumor and spare the healthy parts of his brain. There is no prognosis right now, but Nate and his family continue to lean on one another and the community. Nate is a junior at Niagara Wheatfield and a volunteer firefighter at Lewiston Fire House Number Two.

There will be a benefit for Nate and his family. It will be held on April 5 th at the Lewiston Number Two Fire Hall from 2 to 7. You can watch Nate's story by clicking on the video link.
